A rendezvous with me

A rendezvous with me…

My trepidation well concealed,
Sure footed did I venture in,
To see what others had revealed,
While splashing out what lay within.

And as my gaze meandered round,
The cave with poignancy festooned,
I felt my heart begin to pound,
Its strings emotive now attuned…

…To the varied deep depictions,
Of how each absent soul did muse,
When tormented by inflictions,
In loss and pain’s bleakest of hues.

And then suddenly, I found ‘Me’,
En face a frame that mirrored my,
Struggle to not avenge but free,
My mind of those who’d bled me dry.

Slowly the faces now appeared,
Of each vile nemesis of mine,
That at my face and fears had jeered,
And crossed humane turf’s every line.

It was then that from slumber deep,
Rose my will, seizing the chance to,
And did, the same elixir reap,
As those who poignant work you view.
